Member Nominated Trustee Director (MNTD) election
30 Nov 2021
Fancy a new challenge? Join our Trustee team and help run the AA Pension Scheme
To apply to be a MNTD you need to be a deferred member of the AA Pension Scheme. You should have already received a letter from us with details on how you can put yourself forward. Please free to contact Lorraine.Birks@theaa.com, if you are interested in applying but would like further information.
The main responsibilities of a trustee broadly speaking, are:
- To make sure that the AA Pension Scheme is well governed, safe and secure;
- To ensure members are paid their pension correctly and on time; and
- To keep the Scheme running as efficiently and effectively as possible.
We want to be as inclusive as we can be to encourage more diversity on the Trustee Board. We see the benefit that diversity brings to the team and as such, we welcome applications from colleagues with a wide range of skill sets and backgrounds.
As a Trustee, you’ll be required to attend meetings with your Trustee colleagues throughout the year. Trustee Board meetings will normally be booked up to a year in advance to help make sure you can attend.
The process
If you wish to be considered for the role, it is your responsibility to ensure that your completed Nomination form is received by Civica no later than 5pm on 3 December 2021.
A selection panel will then be held (which will include an existing MND) to select the final candidates from those who had indicated a willingness to be an MND. The selection panel will either take place face to face in London or on Teams or Zoom. This will be confirmed to shortlisted candidates in advance of the panel day.
The selection panel is expected to take place on 13 December 2021. The successful candidates will be required to complete the online Trustee Toolkit provided by the Pensions Regulator within 12 months of being appointed, with significant progress towards completion made within the first six months. You may find it beneficial to have a look at the Toolkit when considering whether to apply, as this will help you to understand the variety and scope of the Trustee role.
The toolkit can be found at https://www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk/trustees. The successful candidate will also be expected to attend a two-day Trustee Training event expected to be held over 2 and 3 February 2022. Please note, all reasonable travel expenses will be refunded.
If the vacancies are not filled, the selection process will be run again within three years with the aim of filling the vacancies. However, if there is a significant change to the Scheme’s membership, the process may be re-run sooner.
The outcome of the selection process will be announced on the AA Pension Scheme website at www.aapensions.com as well as on www.cesvotes.com/AApensions21
